How to use Custom Robot Header Tags in Blogger

Blogger has been trying to make blogger blogs more SEO friendly and the introduction of Custom Robot Header tags is just a fine example of this. Now you don't need to add tags in the head section of your template manually because now you can do it by setting up the custom robot header tags.
Follow the steps given below:
1. Go to settings menu of your blog.
2. Select Search Preferences.
3. Scroll down and enable the Custom Robot Header tags by clicking on edit:
4. Click Yes for Enable custom robots header tags and click on Save Changes.
5. Use the settings given in screenshot:
By using noindex and noarchive for "Archive and Seach pages", all archive pages of your blog indexed in Google Search, will be removed which is better for SEO. having archive pages in Google can lead to Google Panda penalty due to duplicate content.
Remember to use this function carefully. If you do not know anything about these tags then just follow the screenshot given above exactly.

I have to admit that the recent Penguin update has changed the world of SEO and all past backlinking strategies needs to be revised. The penguin update was good for webmasters not using blackhat techniques for getting rankings. The main aim of recent update was to punish the spammers who tried to manipulate the search engine results.

- Don't use the same anchor text for all backlinks. This will trigger the penguin algorithm. So change the anchor text a little bit after every 4-5 backlinks. Exact anchor text match can create problems for you.
- Don't go for blogroll links. After the penguin update, blogroll links have lost their importance. Blogroll links will create backlinks with the same anchor text.
- All the blog networks are now dead. They have lost their authority which means they have also lost their importance.
- Stay away from Fiverr SEO gigs. In my personal opinion, all the people who used these SEO services are now suffering.
- Avoid spammy backlinks. Go for quality not quantity. A PR6 backlink from a reputable site is better than 3000 backlinks from spammy websites.
- Don't use automatic backlinking softwares. Your site will be definitely de-indexed from Google if your site is 2 days old and it has got 2 million backlinks.

- Guest posting is the best practice after recent update.
- Article marketing is also of a great importance if done correctly.
- Blog commenting on high PR blog posts. Again do it manually and never ever use automatic software.
- Forum posting on reputable dofollow forums. Do it manually at a slow rate so it appears natural.

What will be the future of SEO after Penguin Update?A question or you can say a fear in webmaster's mind is what will be the future of SEO after the Penguin update. The Penguin update has punished a lot of sites but you know there was one thing common in all of these sites:
- They hired a SEO consultant who was unprofessional or he used blackhat techniques.
- They tried to fool the Google but caught.
There are still some sites which were doing good business around but unfortunately they are also affected by Penguin. Penguin is just an algorithm, not a human who can consider if it is wrong or true. So there are possibilities that may be some legit sites are also affected by Penguin.
The so called SEO gurus and consultants are now thinking to learn the SEO again from the start because of the Penguin. In my opinion, Penguin update is a one step closer to make the Google free from sites using un-natural link building techniques to get ranked. People using Google wants results related to their search terms and those People are the Google's biggest asset. If they stop using Google then what Google will do?
After all, Penguin Update is also just an algorithm created by humans and I am damn sure that sooner or later the SEO guys will find out how the Penguin works and they will invent their own method to cheat Penguin.
It looks like a fight between cat and mouse. Google updates its algorithm, SEO guys update their methods and things keep going on.
